Scott Bora$: Greatest Hits

Dave Brown at Big League Stew did a mostly great job putting together this list of the top-ten most outrageous contracts negotiated by MLB superagent Scott Boras.
I say mostly because A-Rod isn’t a fair number one. He’s won three MVPs under his “outrageous” contracts with the Rangers and the Yankees, and will likely be the home run king of baseball at the the end of them. Was Rodriguez overpaid? In a manner of speaking, sure. But I quote William Henry Vanderbilt, the railroad tycoon, when asked how much he would charge customers:
“As much. As the market. Will bear.”
There was a market for A-Rod at $252 million. There was, it turns out, a market for him at $275. But Boras and A-Rod thought there’d be a market for him at $300 million when he opted out of his existing contract at the end of the 2007 season. They were wrong.
